Agreement reached on Armenia-Azerbaijan meeting in Moscow, says Zakharova

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has announced in a press briefing on Thursday (27 April) that an agreement has been reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan on holding a meeting in Moscow.

Zakharova added that an exact date for the meeting would be decided later.

The announcement comes days after Azerbaijan installed a checkpoint on the Hakari bridge, on its border with Armenia and which marks the entrance to the Lachin Corridor, about which you can read more here.

Azerbaijan has insisted that the establishment of the checkpoint was necessary to control the movement of goods along the corridor, and to prevent Armenia exploiting the road for "illicit purposes".

Armenia on the other hand argues that the establishment of the checkpoint contravenes the 10 November 2020 Trilateral Declaration that brought the Second Karabakh War to an end.
