Aliyev allocates funds to mitigate damage caused by the 44-day war

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev today (6 July) gave a series of orders allocating funds to counter damage done during last year’s 44-day war. The four orders requested the following transfers from the reserve of the president of Azerbaijan, as had been envisaged in Azerbaijan's state budget for 2021:

  • 30 million manats (€14.9 million) to Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, for “the restoration of damaged facilities and the implementation of repair and construction work”;
  • 5.4 million manats (€2.7 million) to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy, to “eliminate the damage caused to the civilian population and state-owned vehicles, business entities”;
  • 5.2 million manats (€2.6 million) to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Finance, to go towards “compensation of damage to property of the civilian population”; and
  • 1.4 million manats (€696,133) to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Agriculture, “to eliminate the damage caused to agriculture (agricultural products, machinery, arable land, livestock, etc.)”.
