Armenia and Azerbaijan accuse each other of breaches of the ceasefire

Armenia and Azerbaijan have in recent days accused each other of breaking the ceasefire established as a result of the 10 November 2020 declaration. The incidents appear to be isolated, but contribute to keeping the situation on the border tense.

Reports from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence allege at least 10 such incidents in recent weeks, including one on Monday, where large calibre weapons were reportedly used in the Kalbajar region. Baku has not reported any casualties from the incidents, and Armenia denies these reports as false.

On Monday also, a statement by the Armenian MoD accused Azerbaijani troops of opening fire in the western part of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. It added that Armenian troops had taken retaliatory measures and that there had been no casualties. Azerbaijan has dismissed these claims as disinformation.
