EUSR Klaar and Deputy Foreign Minister Rudenko discuss situation on Armenia-Azerbaijan border

Diplomatic contacts to try to defuse the tense situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border continued throughout the day.

According to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, this afternoon (May 27), Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Rudenko held a telephone conversation with EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar at the initiative of the latter.

"A useful exchange of views and assessments of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the context of the work of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs took place", it was stated

The Russian side reaffirmed its appeal to the parties to resolve all emerging problems by peaceful means during negotiations. Russia is ready to continue to provide possible assistance to this process, the Russian foreign ministry press service added.
