The Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov are to meet in Washington D.C. on Monday (1 May) for what is understood to be the start of a week of bilateral peace talks.
According to the public schedule of 1 May published on the website of the U.S. Department of State, Blinken will meet with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at the George Shultz National Foreign Affairs Training Center at 08:30 Eastern Time (14:30 CET, 16:30 in Baku and Yerevan).
Blinken will then meet Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov half an hour later, at 09:00 Eastern Time (15:00 CET, 17:00 in Baku and Yerevan), before sitting down with both foreign ministers for bilateral peace negotiations at 09:45 Eastern Time (15:45 CET, 17:45 in Baku and Yerevan).
Weekend phone calls with Pashinyan and Aliyev
Antony Blinken also spoke to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Saturday (29 April), and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Sunday (30 April).
Blinken "underscore[d] the importance of Azerbaijan-Armenia peace discussions and pledged continued U.S. support", according to press releases following the calls.
