Pashinyan confirms commitment to the peace agenda despite tense situation on the ground

Armenian prime minister Nikol Pashinyan has confirmed Armenia's commitment to the peace agenda. Speaking at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers in Yerevan on Thursday, 24 August, the Armenian leader said

"I want to emphasise the commitment of the Republic of Armenia to the peace agenda. I have to inform you that we have forwarded to the Azerbaijani side our new proposals for a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan"

The statement of the Armenian leader came despite days of tension around Nagorno-Karabakh, and in some parts of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, with both sides accusing each other of violations of the cease fire.

Behind the scenes, efforts continue to find some solution to the impasse which has disrupted movement on the Lachin corridor.
