Russian soldiers in Karabakh rehearse for Victory Day parade at Stepanakert airfield

The Russian Ministry of Defence (MOD) on Monday (19 April), published video footage of  its military contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh rehearsing for a celebration marking 76 years since the end of the Second World War. Around 400 servicemen were involved in the first consolidated rehearsal for the 9 May ‘Victory Day’ celebration at Stepanakert airfield.

The celebration is planned to include up to 10 parade crews of 45 soldiers. The Russian MOD stated that training of the parade crews is carried out on a regular basis at a specifically dedicated time so as not to interfere with the contingent’s main tasks or intended purpose.

The Russian military contingent was deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh as part of the 10 November tripartite agreement between Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia, which ended the 44-day Karabakh war.
